I tried something on Saturday morning that actually went really well. I woke up and decided: I am not going to look in the mirror at all today until I have a shower and get more awake. Not until after I'm up for a bit.
Because usually, everybody looks pretty terrible when they first wake up- I'm sure you've experienced this? :)
So I tried it, and it actually went extremely well. During all the time not looking, it was so difficult not to peek, and my mind started to go crazy with how horrible I looked. My imagination thinking about- oh my gosh, I'm going to look in the mirror and it's going to be even worse than I imagined.
But then when I looked in the mirror finally after all the waking-up was over with and after I'd had a shower, I looked pretty good compared to all the horrible things my mind was imagining. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. And also the first thing I saw of myself during the day was not horrible just-got-out-of-bed look, it was more normal, awake look :)
So I would say definitely give it a try sometime, don't look in the mirror at all until you're fully awake and freshened up- it turned out really well for me, pretty good start to the day! You'll realize, you don't look as bad as your imagination says you do :)
